It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood!

Well, here it is, my new home. [looking around apprehensively] I'm both nervous and excited about being here.

I’m nervous, because I haven't gone over to my neighbors yet to introduce myself. I mean the reason why I moved here is because it’s a better neighborhood, although sometimes my adopted blog dad’s antic’s worry me and make me wonder what kind of neighborhood I’m moving into.

This afternoon, as I took a stroll around the place, taking note of where everything was, I started thinking of how came to be here in the first place. I had been reading a number of munuvians in the past year, and really loved what many have to say.

I came across was Madfish Willie’s Cyber Saloon about 8 months ago. He doesn’t know this, but for a very long time now I have visited not only to laugh at but also to print out his jokes. You see I correspond with over 20 soldiers deployed in the Stan and Iraq and my joke repertoire is very limited. So every few weeks or so, I’d print out whatever jokes he’d post and send them with my letters. The soldiers would always write back that they got a kick out of the joke sheets. Luckily, his Cyber Saloon is not too far from me, so he was able to help with my move in his spare time. Now wasn’t that just neighborly of him!

The second munuvian I got to know would eventually become my adopted bog dad, Harvey of Bad Example. Actually, back then it was Harvey of Bad Money. One of my soldiers is a currency collector and lover like me, and so one day, being at a loss for things to write or send, I came across Harvey in a google search. Here too I printed out the funny images of what people did with money and sent it to him.

Anyway, after I got back from my little neighborhood stroll this afternoon, I sat on my porch took a look at my Munuvian blog roll, I realized there are many others I don't know yet. From having checked out their site they seem to be OK, but you never know. Harvey can get close to the edge and dance on that line every once in a while, but so far he's managed to stay on this side of sanity, which makes me wonder about the others.

When I moved into my old place I currently live, I had a lot of people who were nut jobs and others who were down right vicious. Like Boudicca of Boudicca's Voice, I had the neighbors from hell. She has shared stories of her crazy neighbors on her blog and some are just downright hysterical. Actually, she made me realize things could be worse, so the decision to move to mu.nu was easy after reading Boudicca's blog. Luckily she lives just around the corner, so I can easily stop by and either get inspired, laugh or relate to the challenges of her ongoing construction. I came across her through Harvey, and she has vouched for his sanity, so far so good.

I came across Simon of Simon’s World, also on my own through a google search. Having lived in Hong Kong and the Philippines for a number of years I missed it. So his blogged enabled me to do cyber visits to the Asian Pacific rim through his blogs. Really great writing there. So I’m excited to continue my almost daily visits with them.

I'm also excited about this move because I'm looking forward to meeting new and interesting people. As I wondered where to begin, I decided that I'll first go around saying Hi back to those people that first visited me when the site was just a domain in the blogosphere. After meeting them, I'll venture out to meet others and ask them in Mr. Rogers words, “Won’t you be my neighbor?”

Congratulations. I kept checking the old site to see if you got the help you needed and, may I say, The New Place Is Great. So much more roomy!!

You've got some great neighbors and they are lucky to have YOU in the neighborhood!!

The one thing I noticed when I moved off blogspot was how much more dedicated I am now. Before it was like a game, now I actually schedule time for blogging. (I know, I'm just weird)

Anyway - this is great. I'll update the blogroll now!!!

Welcome to the Munuvanian Neighborhood! I'm pretty new here myself, but I've found everyone very welcoming. I'll be back to read more soon.

Link updated.
Yeah, the link behind that nice fancy graphic no one ever notices... :sniff:

LOL

Unfortunately, like all .mu.nu, my comment info doesn't get remembered unless I use the permalink. Just as good, I hate pop-up boxes.... :)

_Jon - yes, I used my toe. And no need to pity my wife. Just remember: average man + tiny wife = above average man.

Hey, how's it going? I brought some wine for us cultured types, some beer for the slobs, and some yogies for the rats.
